What a Win!
Wow! These Brewers are starting to really get it together. Last night, they beat the Rockies, a team that completely destroyed them the last time they played. Last night, the boys continued to show that they can hit, but what was more impressive was their fielding. They were catching fly balls, chasing grounders, running to tag bases and making plays at the bag.
The parents were fired up. I thought we were at a concert we were so loudly cheering. Fun times!
When my son Zane got home from the game, he called me to share how the game turned out since I had to leave a bit early. I asked him to give me as many stats as he could. Here's what I got "5 to 3 outs Liam Zane theo & David". So, they won 5-3 and he was most proud of the defense they played listing a few of the awesome plays they made. All of the boys played well. Even the littlest ones made significant improvements and got hits and made it to 1st.
Unfortunately, I didn't get any photos from last night. Please send me some if you have any.

The Sisters Don't Exactly Watch
While the boys play, the sisters try to find a way to pass the time. During the last game, I was invited to play "sharks and meadows" with them. I didn't have the heart to correct them and explain that it's "minnows". Tonight, they went on an excursion to collect pine cones. It started pretty tame and quickly escalated to a serious task. They started by filling their hats. Then, they grabbed my backpack and started filling it up. When they couldn't find any more cones on the ground they took to the trees. Lily climbed the fence and started yanking them off the trees. At one point, I caught her using a scrap piece of metal she found and was tossing in the air to shake them loose. Whew! I'm glad I caught that one.
While this was happening, the boys were hitting and fielding well. They had a good game and narrowly beat the Indians 8-7.

Great Effort
Tuesday 4/12 was the first game our Brewers played with scoring and rules in play. While they showed they need improvement, they played hard and with heart. We ought to be proud!
The coaches continued to impress me during this tough game. Instead of getting tough on the kids, they continued to show patience and compassion. In fact, at one point coach Ed approached the parents and called for a positive attitude and to support the boys. It was a much needed pep talk for me and I hope others appreciated it as well.
I'm not sure how the kids did individually as I still struggle to know all their names (shame, shame). The last inning the boys batted was the most productive though as we got several hits and even a run. it was a proud moment for me as my son, Zane got on base and helped coach Ed's son Mason reach home.
The next game is Friday. Go Brewers! Please send me photos and a story to save here for posterity. Jesse.Dahl@gmail.com

Shorthanded Game Against the Mets
Tonight, the boys played the Mets. There weren't many players for either team, but the game still went fine. This was the last practice game.
Prior to the game, coach Ed patiently assigned the players their positions. He has a great system that aims to give the players a chance to play each position.
